The John D. Thompson Hospice Institute for Education, Training and Research, Inc. (JDT), the educational ally of Connecticut Hospice, was established in 1979 to provide a vehicle for sharing hospice and palliative care philosophy, experience and skills with students, health care professionals, administrators, caregivers, and the community.
The JDT Hospice Institute offers high-quality continuing education services to physicians and nurses and is accredited to award both CMEs (Continuing Medical Education) and CNEs (Continuing Nursing Education). The Institute is also a premier clinical rotation site and annually host over 300 students from prestigious universities located both in and out of Connecticut and Around the World.
JDT offers opportunities to engage in over 35 customized clinical experiences and over 30 clinical rotations, including but not limited to Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Spiritual Care, and Art & Music Therapies.
JDT welcomes more than 325 students a year through partnerships with many of the country’s most prestigious universities and international teaching hospitals such as Columbia University School of Nursing, New York University School of Social Work, UCONN School of Pharmacy, Yale Schools of Medicine and Nursing, Yale Summer Bioethics Program, Fairfield University, Albertus Magnus University, Lesley University (Boston, MA), Yale Divinity School, Dominican Order of the Catholic Church Seminary (Wash. DC), and Higashi Sapporo Hospital.
JDT is approved to provide Nursing Program Accreditation Services by the Northeast Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nursing Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
